Nottingham. Tonighter.

Totally late to the party on getting this up on here. As this is TONIGHT.
We rocked with Latern For A Gale, Gascan Ruckus and Shuriken last night in Derby.
It was monumental. Some of the best bands we've seen in an age. Do yourself a favour and come down to this TONIGHT in Notts bruv.

Satans Mineons+KnifeCutter European Dates

So me and James from The Wickets make noise in Knife Cutter. You knew that right?
It's a 2piece caffeine and riff side-project.
Satans Mineons have been our friends as long as we've been a band.
They've just recorded an incredible new album and have it boxed up downstairs ready to take on the road. It's called 'Gnasha', is about 30 minutes long and has some of the best songwriting I've ever heard on it. It's loud too.

We're hitting Europe together for a bit, you'll be able to buy their new album, our old 10" and some T-Shirts and stuff:

Before and After

The day we left:

The day we got back (look! Money!):

Here's the last entry to our diary on Drop-D.

And a review in Dutch of the gig in Groningen...the most attractive place on earth.

A rough translation reads:
The Wickets "looked tired before the show (due to long hours in the van) but gave a very energetic show. Loud post-punk and well composed songs. A band that has a potential to reach a larger audience."

There are some great photos on there..so get involved!

COMING UP
Launch gigs for our new 7" single in Nottingham (Old Angel//May 19th) and London (The Victoria//June 9th) - - more details up soon!

HUGE thanks to Nikki for coming along, shifting merch for us and keeping things filthy.
HUGE thanks to Loz for driving us 2500 miles seemingly non-stop getting us to every gig and keeping things from getting too out of hand!

Going to throw up some photos and a run down of what went down on here too - our single is OUT NOW so head over to www.mesters.co.uk -- http://thewickets.bigcartel.com -- or at any gig - to get a copy!

Back on the road again

Good to be back out there.
We hit up Blackpool's Blue Rooms last night. Was nice and loud and folks were into it. Cheers to Barry (of Goonies Never Say Die) for putting us on and cheers to The Colours for getting some noise out there too.

It truly is Vegas of the North.

We're even honoured with Stephen Gilbert's appearance. A founding member of The Wickets! He may of only been around making music with us for about 6 months 10 years ago...but he was there at the start! It was awesome to see him doing well and rocking out down the front..it's been at least 6 years since we crossed paths and he checked the noise out.

Coming up: We've got a few Nottingham gigs lined up, get the 7" out and then off round Europe's Mainland for a bit in April.
ONWARDS!

Wednesday 12 January 2011

Hi there 2011 (in link form)

And how are you?

2010 - busy. But not busy enough.
2011 - here's to making it busier.

UPCOMING - we're working away on getting a new 7" out - going to be a double A side with By The Sea and Newspaper being the stonkers on each side. We've done the recording and move on to mixing, mastering, cutting, artwork. The lot. Still a way to go but it's going to be worth it.
Recorded live to tape in studio 2 at Mesters. It sounds obscene. The best we've ever sounded. It may be mandatory to say that with everything new you do..but it's a true story.

SPRING 2011 - We're off round the continent in April with Alright The Captain. We have more dates confirmed than not and you can see them listed on here with more being added over the next few weeks. We will be in France/Belgium/Netherlands/Germany(possbily)/Luxembourg(definately).

FACEBOOK - Just added a 'bandpage' to our - facebook profile - it's basically a myspace page as part of the whole facebook experience. Music and dates listed etc. Fantastic.

VISUALS - RooInns, a Nottingham stalwart, has uploaded a few choice tracks from our last gig in Nottingham at the tail end of 2010 - it's all there...here: http://tinyurl.com/69cmlo2 - click through at the end of each one for the next...there are 4 up there I think.

First up BLACKPOOL on Saturday 15th Jan at The Blue Room.

Should probably get off the internet and make some music.
ONWARDS!
