We braved the snow/ice/sleet/cold and made it Kingston and back. Thanks to The Spunk for playing their first gig anywhere near London since 1991 and thanks to The 9s - a worthy discovery! You guys were great. Ta.
Thing that might be it for gigs this year now. It's been busy. 2011 needs to be busier to stave off the madness though.
Shall we?

We're on at 9pm I think.

oh yeah
We did a gig last night in the Sumac centre in Nottingham, which is a community centre for forward thinking types with allotments and bikes.
There was a child running around with ice cream until midnight and a dog on a string who barked so perfectly in time with Alright The Captain everyone was in agreement the dog needs to join the band. It was a thing of beauty.
Anyway - it's always a bit odd playing there cause it's like a living room in an old people's home..with an awesome bar..and stray people sat on google..
The gig was super tight actually - Martin of BUTTONPUSHER and ATC has got his shit down as far as putting a good lineup together goes.
Last night was no exception - if you can catch Continuous Battle of Order before they head back to Belfast you must - they are touring until next thursday - have a little look::

Giggles
Who plays Pink Floyd as soon as the bands stop though? And after a Rock-A-Billy band(Dick Venom and The Terrortones)...things got weird FAST!
I went for a skate after the gig and completely spooned myself. Full on superman dive off the board. Amazing landing using my knee and elbow and hat. Walked away with only minor scrapes. It was utterly hilarious...and NO ONE saw. I was disappointed, because it was so damn funny someone deserved to laugh at my expense. Oh well.
Northampton yesterday was pretty epic. First M1 jaunt with the new van. It did not explode. Which was nice.
It's big enough that everyone pretty much has their own row to lord about on.
Northampton was very accommodating, the venue was right next to the Carlsberg factory. They had bottles of Carlsberg for a pound a go if you were in a band..think they nicked em from their bins or something.
Apple Shift Seven and Thracia were super fun and nice and even bought some records. THANK A YOU! Check them out.
We had to leave when it all got a bit Dancing Joe:

They sound wild! Again, all recorded live with us playing in the same room at the same time to tape. It sounds different to Big Animals though..BIGGER almost..different..new!
Sunday was a solid day of setting up, getting levels, making sure we were all happy with the sounds coming back off the tape..once we were (took most of the day) we just kept going til we got the right take. This took roundabout 9 tries for By The Sea each take getting faster by 5 seconds exactly. We were done at 3.35. Newspaper got done in fewer takes..in fact the take we went with may even be the first take (proper) we did a version first with an extended part that we all agreed was a waste of time.
So here we are. Mixing the tracks tomorrow. Vocals were all done on Monday whilst the rest of us made tea for those working..skived off to play GTA4...made lunch for everyone which included an insanely hot scotch bonnet (vicar) and was too hot for some..read viz...drew artwork ideas..and defaced whatever was laying around:
Ain't nothing better than tape!

Just killin' time.
Going into MESTERS to record a few songs with the intention of turning them into a 7". VERY EXCITING.
Going to be NEWSPAPER and BY THE SEA - - live recordings/demos of which are on our myspace and have been a solid part of our set for the past year (give or take).
They are our 2 favorite songs that were written in the wake of Big Animals and seeing as we have not quite written Big Animals 2 yet we thought we'd get these tracks down and out before we all kill each other and never play another note or something.
Expect exciting/cliched studio reports and stuff over next week.
In the mean time salivate over this:::

INFLUX Festival was amazing. Loads of new faces, plenty of old! THANKS to all who gave us love.
In other news Captain Cor Blimey appear to have lost their cymbals. They played outside at around 6.30, finished around 7.10. After getting their gear packed down their cymbals got misplaced. We hope another band picked them up in error and that someone knows where they are. Full set of cymbals in pro-racket bag.
IF YOU HAVE THEM
IF YOU SAW THEM
IF YOU KNOW WHERE THEY ARE
They just want them back!
This will put the band out of action until they are replaced.
A massive blow.
PLEASE HELP!

2010
So the juggernaut (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juggernaut) of 2010 is slowly building up steam..the first gigs of the year are getting booked and approaching. Phil seems to be healing ok - we had first practice since the break last night and it went great. No complaints, from Phil anyway.
We're playing as part of a massive 16 strong line up at The Central in Nottingham on 23rd January thanks to Will - I'm Not from London - gave us the write up below:
"Dark haunting riffs interrupted by a strong almost Morrison vocal lead and industrial drumming are just some of the reasons why you should see The Wickets and their recent album- Big Animals has been selling out at every gig, make sure you get a copy, honestly well well worth it!"
INFL
Tidy.
